The firm is led by Attorney William P. Joyce who retired as an Immigration Judge after spending more than thirty years with the United States Department of Justice. Attorney Joyce is complemented by a team of associate attorneys with extensive experience in the field of immigration law. Our paralegals are knowledgeable about all types of immigration processes and speak a variety of foreign languages fluently.

Our office is centrally located a short walk from the John F. Kennedy Federal Building in Government Center. We are also across the street from the USCIS Application Support Center.

Honorable William P. Joyce – Managing Director

William P. Joyce Esq. retired as an Immigration Judge in the United States Immigration Court in July 2002. Prior to becoming an Immigration Judge, Judge Joyce served as Legal Counsel to the Chief Immigration Judge who supervised 210 Immigration Judges throughout the United States. In that capacity, Judge Joyce worked closely with other branches in the Justice Department and Congress in complex legal matters affecting the Immigration Court.

Judge Joyce was also an Assistant United States Attorney of the Eastern District of Virginia, the Associate General Counsel of INS, and worked under Bill Weld at the United States Attorney Office in Boston. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the Georgetown University Law School.

Judge Joyce serves as Managing Director of Joyce and Associates. He has personally represented clients in extremely complex immigration cases with excellent results. These cases range from detained criminal aliens to individuals seeking relief through family and business petitions. He also can provide detailed analysis of individual cases with the likelihood of success. Further, Judge Joyce is actively involved in our business practice both in the obtaining of business visas and providing technical assistance to companies with compliance with immigrant requirements.

Associate Attorneys

Alejandro Epstein-Santoyo

Alejandro Epstein-Santoyo received his Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern School of Law, and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Bard College. Alejandro has experience representing clients in criminal and civil proceedings in Massachusetts State and Federal District courts. He joined Joyce & Associates, P.C. after practicing immigration law, criminal defense and family law at a Boston-based law firm. His prior experience also includes a judicial externship with the Boston Immigration Court and a judicial clerkship with the Suffolk Superior Court. Alejandro is a native Spanish-speaker and is proficient in Italian. He is an AILA member and is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts.


Kelly A. Doolittle

Kelly A. Doolittle received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Suffolk University Law School with distinction in International Law. She received her bachelor’s degree in International and Global Studies from Brandeis University. Prior to joining Joyce & Associates as an attorney, Kelly worked at a Boston-based corporate immigration law firm where she gained experience in employment-based immigration matters. Kelly has also worked at several legal service organizations that represent individuals in asylum and family-based immigration matters. As a student attorney in Suffolk’s Immigration Clinic, Kelly also represented immigrant detainees before the Boston Immigration Court. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


Kaitlyn L. Jones

Kaitlyn Jones received her Juris Doctor cum laude from Suffolk University School of Law in 2016.  She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from Boston University in three years.  She first joined Joyce & Associates in June 2010 as a paralegal and remained with the firm throughout law school.  As the child of a Cuban and a Laotian immigrant, she has a personal interest in serving immigrant communities. Kaitlyn is fluent in Spanish.

Brendan M. Julian

Brendan Julian received his Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology from Bates College in 2010. As a Junior, he traveled to Northeastern Brazil where he studied language, culture, and history. As a senior he returned to Brazil to complete research for his thesis on the social movement of capoeira angola in rural Bahia. Before joining Joyce & Associates he spent two years teaching at a public charter school in Washington DC and then returned to the Boston area to volunteer at the Mass Alliance for Portuguese Speakers. He hopes to use his knowledge and experience to help immigrants overcome cultural and linguistic barriers.

Nirson Da Silva

Nirson Da Silva studied History at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  He also studied Italian history and language in Italy for a semester.  He has interned for the University of Massachusetts Student Legal Services Office and has participated in the Lindsay Fellowship Program at the U.S. Federal Courthouse in Boston, MA.  Nirson has been working at Joyce & Associates since 2013 and comes from a Brazilian family. He is fluent in Portuguese and uses his skills and abilities to serve the immigration community every day.

Gustavo S. Ramos

Gustavo Ramos graduated from Boston College in 2014 where he received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Spanish.  He served as a mentor and peer advisor for CTP, Boston College’s first generation student program. In 2012 he studied abroad for a semester in Madrid, Spain to study the culture and language. As the child of two Brazilian immigrants, he has a passion for and takes pride in helping the immigrant community. He is fluent in Portuguese and proficient in Spanish.

Flavio Barros

Flavio Barros was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. He studied Sociology with a minor in Business Studies in Kingston University in London, UK. Flavio has had professional experiences in different industries, and in countries such as: Portugal, the United Kingdom, Spain and Cape Verde. Now residing in Boston, he decided he wants to support immigrants, like himself, and his community by becoming a paralegal. Flavio is Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and Cape Verdean Creole.

Leanne N. Keddie

Leanne Keddie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Quantitative Analysis and a Liberal Studies Major in Global Sustainability from Bentley University. After graduating in 2011, she served three years with the United States Peace Corps in Cameroon and Panama. Her years living in developing countries and working with marginalized populations inspired her to return to the United States to pursue a position in an immigration law firm. Leanne is fluent in Spanish.

Karla G. Martinez

Karla Martinez graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate in Latin American, Latino and Caribbean Studies. In 2012, she studied abroad in Northern Ireland where she learned about the Peace Process following The Troubles and where she also received a certificate in Irish Studies. As a child of Mexican and Guatemalan immigrants, she has a personal interest in serving the immigrant community and hopes to one day become an immigration lawyer. She is fluent in Spanish.

Abraham E. Bran

Abraham Bran graduated from Tufts University in 2015 where he studied Economics and Spanish. He studied abroad in Madrid, Spain where he participated in an Intercultural Development Program. Before working at Joyce & Associates, Mr. Bran also interned at Loyola Law School’s Center for Juvenile Law and Policy. Mr. Bran comes from a family of Honduran and Guatemalan immigrants which, along with close ties to some of the families in the Chinatown community, motivate him to assist the general immigrant community. He is fluent in Spanish.

Chris Fang Li

Chris Fang Li received her Master’s Degree in Higher Education in Administration from Merrimack College in 2015 and her Bachelors of Arts in English Literature from Zhengzhou University, China, in 2008. She worked at Merrimack College as a graduate fellow in the 2014 academic year. As a student immigrant, Chris has first-hand experience with the immigrant community, and a passion to serve others like her. She is fluent in Mandarin.

Maria A. Ordonez 

Maria Andrea Ordoñez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California Irvine. She has three years plus of experience working in the immigration field, in California previously and now here in Boston, MA. She was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia and immigrated to the United States with her family. Her continued passion to serve the immigrant community stems from her personal experience as an immigrant. She is in her first year at Suffolk University Law School pursing her Juris Doctorate in hopes of becoming an immigration lawyer. She is fluent in Spanish.

Gabriela Castro Alves 

Gabriela Castro Alves received her Bachelors of the Arts in Political Science from Suffolk University. She was born and raised in Brazil and came to the United States in 2009 giving her personal experience with the immigration process which she now translates into her work with the firm.  Before joining Joyce and Associates, she worked as personal injury paralegal in Boston. Gabriela has aspirations to go to law school and practice immigration law as she has the passion to help other. Gabriela has native fluency in Portuguese.

Jessica I. Cuellar 

Jessica Cuellar graduated from the University of Mary Washington where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in International Affairs. Before joining J&A, she interned with the United States Committee for Refugee and Immigrants and worked in a non-profit Refugee Resettlement Agency in the Washington D.C. area. As a child of Colombian immigrants, she hopes to continue to help and serve the immigrant community in the Boston area. She is fluent in Spanish.

Sylvia Yang Shen

Sylvia graduated from Utrecht University in the Netherlands with a L.L.M. in Law and Economics and a M.S. in Sociology. Before joining Joyce & Associates, Sylvia has been working in project management in China, Hong Kong and Canada. Sylvia speaks Mandarin and English fluently and is proficient in Dutch. Given her personal experiences going through the immigration process, Sylvia understands and sympathizes with the migrant community and is passionate about preparing and displaying compelling work for her clients.

Office Team

Levent Corbaci – Accountant

Levent Corbaci received his master’s degree from Boston University in Financial Economics and his Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting Management from Northeastern University.  Prior to coming to Joyce and Associates, PC, Mr. Corbaci worked at EC, an English Language Schools as an Accountant. Mr. Corbaci has worked with Joyce and Associates, PC since May 2011. He is fluent in Turkish.

Jose Miranda – Office Manager

Jose was born and raised in Brazil. He attended one year of Business Administration at U.N.A and one year of Engineering at E. Eng. Kennedy, Brazil. Prior to coming to the United States, he was a General Branch Manager of a Federal Bank, where he worked for more than 17 years. He is also a technician in automobile from SENAI-F.I.E.M.G, Brazil. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

Rita Armstrong

Rita Armstrong graduated in LETRAS “Degree in Languages”  from UNIVALE University of Vale Do Rio Doce in Brazil in 2004.

Rita taught elementary school for 10 years, her experience also includes working as a program coordinator at Fisk and Harvest English Schools in both in Brazil and the United States. She is fluent in Portuguese and English.

Hervey D. Adelson

Hervey Adelson is currently an undergraduate at massbay community college and soon to complete his associate’s degree in criminal justice. Hervey was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts fluent in both English and Haitian-Creole.
